Drupal Development

You will note from an earlier post that I like website development, teaching it and doing a bit for others. I use Drupal a great deal, where appropriate.  It did come as a suprise when I received my first donation for one of the Drupal themes that I ported.  The money has now gone back in to pay for hosting my sites.  Again, I have been suprised by the amont of positive feedback, of which I am still getting including several feature requests and the odd bug.  If you like any of my ported themes (see Drupal.org) and need help, please contact me via my contact page.  Having said that, I do encourage anyone interested to look into learning Drupal.

I used one book, Pro Drupal Development, to learn the basics including some module devlopment and theming.  The rest can easily be picked up from the on-line documentation and the excellent feedback from the community.

You will need to know PHP and possible some MySQL to customize Drupal.  One of the books I recomend for this is Beginning PHP and MySQL 5: From Novice to Professional, Second Edition: From Novice to Professional (Beginning: From Novice to Professional). This is a good introduction to PHP and MySQL and is a fantastic reference book to have irrespective of using Drupal.
