New Site

I have been working on a new site for a while, or rather learning Drupal and creating a theme.  What you are looking at is the result.

Why Drupal?  Why not WordPress?

Before I start, both are excellent packages and I do use and like WordPress. I am already using Drupal to run another site of mine, ThatchamHistoricalSociety.org.uk, Drupal is capable of running multiple sites from one code base and the host I am with is a shared system.  Thus it seemed stupid to me to use more space by going with WordPress.  Secondly, I am more familiar with Drupal's code.  Thirdly, this site is more than a blog.  I am aware that WordPress can be used for more than just a blog, however, personally I find Drupal better to use for a multi-purpose website.

The Theme

The theme, Light, was originally created by Stephen Reinhardt for WordPress.  I liked the theme so much that I have ported, with permission from Stephen, it to Drupal.  Once I have finished removing the last few bugs I will upload the theme to Drupal.org and here.

Content

Those of you familiar with my previous site will have noticed a significant amount of content has been removed.  I am in the process of working through some of the content, but the main idea is to put a whole new set of materials on the site and keep them up-to date this time.

Before I get asked again, I am using Cirtex Hosting to host most of my websites.  They are VERY cheap, have a good up-time (averaging over 99%) and rapid reply to support.  Okay the uptime is not as good as some other hosting companies but for the money, I do not think you can beat it.  Take a look at them, but remember, this is your decision not mine, I accept no responsibility should you experience problems.
