Projects
Okay so 2011 is getting closer and still many of the projects I wanted to do this year have yet to be finished, or started in some cases. A few I have just given up on and put the domain names up for sale on sedo. I thought it would be good to plan out what I plan to get done before 2011 and what I have done, a status update, on some of my projects.
Projects Finished
Thatcham Online is a website that I developed for Thatcham Vision. The forerunner was virtualthatcham.net, which I also developed. Earlier this year, 2010, for various reasons the website was handed over to me, with a few conditions of course. This I had not planned on, a fantastic suprise. The website itself has been up and running for 2 years, the current version was a revemp that wen live in June this year. The site will continue to be developed, but for this year is perhaps one of the biggest website success of mine.
Projects Started
Nickpics.co.uk is, or will be, my online photography portfolio site. The aim is to show examples of my work and where you can purchase them from. I also aim to include various tutorials. IDevelopment has started and should be completed by the end of the year.
Thatch.am, at present will be a single (or couple) page website. The purpose initially is to show links to the primary websites for Thatcham, perhaps the latest news and tweets. There will also be space for local advertisers. In the long term, who knows.
Thatcham Historical Society was revamped 2 years ago. The revamp was a success, it did bring more visitors to the site. There are some issues with both the layout and the structure behind the scenes. I have been working for a while thinking about and figuring out how best to sort out all the information. Then a few months ago Tom over at PSDFAN did a redesign of the layout for us. I ahve since been busy getting the site ready for an early 2011 launch. The conversion of Tom's design into HTML and Drupal will be documented and written up for all to enjoy.
Projects Postponed (until 2011)
Jimmyriddle.net will be a map of toilets. The idea is that a map will show the location of public toilets and their facilities. Private toilets such as those in restraunts may also be added, perhaps for an advertising fee if logos are included, or an annual subscription. The first phase is planned just to be a website that is browsable and searchable. The second phase, assuming the first works and is popular, is then to expand with apps for phones and/or a text message service.
Abandoned projects
There are severalprojects of my own, and for other people I ahve been working with, that have now been abandoned. These include:
