TV/Film Review: Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope
There are few people who will not have heard of Star Wars. The original Star Wars film was "Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope" which broke much new ground in the movie industry. It made a name for George Lucas, created the modern special effects era with the start-up company Industrial Light & Magic, and others.
For those not familiar with the story, the original Trilogy was the story of a young boy, Luke Skywalker played by Mark Hamill, the son of the villain of the show, Darth Vader played by David Prowse, becoming a Jedi Knight and restoring balance to the Galaxy. This trilogy consists of:
- Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope
- Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back
- Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi
In 1999, George Lucas started to release the new trilogy, a prequel to the original. This story showed how a young boy, Anakin Skywalker learned the ways of the force, fell in love and eventually turned to the dark side becoming Darth Vader. So now when you look at all six films, the story is not of how Luke Skywalker brings balance to the force but how his father brings balance to the force as it is ultimately Darth Vader who kills the true evil, the Emperor. This new trilogy includes the following films:
- Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace
- Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones
- Star Wars Episode III : Revenge of the Sith
Star Wars was revolutionary when released in 1977 and is still going strong today setting and breaking new ground. There are now six Star Wars movies, one cartoon series based on the Clone Wars and a TV show.
