iWoz, iCon and Commodore
I have been reading several biography's this year and thought I would share some of them. The first three I read this year, in order were On The Edge, iWoz and iCon.
iWoz
iWoz is the autobiography of Steve Wozniak, the creator of the Apple and Apple II, not to mention one of the co-founders of Apple. The book was written by Woz and Gina Smith. I have followed Woz for a long time, indeed he has become an icon to many engineers. The book is a fantastic read, a natural and easy to read text. Woz includes many personal issues as well as those surrounding Apple. A must for anyone who grew up in the 70's or 80's and remembers these early computers.
iCon
iCon is the biography of Steve Jobs, co-founder of Apple. This is a fascinating book about Steve. As the book is not written by Steve, it lacks many of the more intimate details that Woz included in his book. However, the book does look at the details surrounding the start of Apple and other companies such as Next that Steve has started. This is a perfect partner to read after iWoz.
On the Edge: The Spectacular Rise and Fall of Commodore
On The Edge is the story of Commodore computers. It details all of the developments, that I am aware of, in the history of the company. This includes a look at some well known names including Chuck Peddle and Jack Tramiel. An excellent insigt into one of the most important computer companies in the early history of personal computing.
